Simisola Johnson, Junior Council Member

Simisola is a psychology and neuroscience graduate from the University of Toronto and is currently the newest addition to the Board of Directors for Doctors without Borders (MSF) Canada. Despite a professional background in the health sector, her strong interest in global health issues has always kept her anchored in the world of non-profit. She has fundraised for a variety of non-profits (e.g. Children Believe, CARE Canada etc.), has campaigned for menstrual equity with a youth-led political organization based in Ontario, and thus, volunteering her time with The Hunger Project (THP) was a natural next step. THP has a unique perspective on ending the hunger crisis: through people. Their efforts to support women and girls, improve accessibility and build sustainable community-based programs throughout Africa, South Asia and Latin America, inspired her to join and support The Hunger Project Canada in 2020. On her days off, she enjoys playing sports, reading, and writing -primarily about public health issues. Her most recent articles have been published by the Harvard Public Health Review and the University of Toronto Medical Journal. Other areas of interest include ethics, child health, and astronomy.
